'Man Saves Man' and Decisions Are The Plan

Where did we ever get the idea that people can save other people, and even save themselves? Sure, nobody comes right out and says that, but you can tell that they think it. It's amazing how this one theological error upstream ends up causing an entire evangelism epidemic downstream. No, theology is not useless "head knowledge", it impacts our actions. And in this case, bad theology has produced an entire errant evangelistic system.

The problem that we are seeing today, is that church leaders believe that people can control when and if the New Birth occurs.

Here's one example with scenes from an actual church service:

Which denomination is right? I've been pentecostal for a while now, but recently I've had questions. What denomination are you? I tend to think we're all the same, but some things I've been reading tell me otherwise. I need help with this.

You are asking a very big question. It's been said that there will be no denominations in Heaven. If you are a true convert to Christ, you are part of the universal church that makes up the body, or bride of Christ. You are wise to realize that we are not all "the same." That is, that many call themselves Christian, with little or no fruit to prove their confession of faith.

The first and most important question you must have settled is if you have truly repented of your sin and trusted in Jesus alone for your salvation?

Here is a resource that has many questions and answers. It is part of John MacArthur's ministry at Grace to you. I think you'll find a wealth of good counsel here: http://www.biblebb.com/macqa.htm

Please feel free to email or post again with any other specific questions.
